As computer science and engineering students, we watched the online examination landscape rapidly deteriorate. When universities shifted to remote and digital testing, they adopted generic browser extensions that claimed to be "AI proctors."

Within weeks, student forums were flooded with simple workarounds. A cheap $15 HDMI splitter could clone an exam screen to a friend in the next room without the browser ever knowing. Virtual webcam software like OBS could loop a 30-second recording of a student nodding at the screen. Hotkeys like Alt+Tab and OS clipboard injectors allowed background AI copilots to answer complex multiple-choice questions in milliseconds.

The result was deeply demoralizing: honest students who spent months studying received lower curved grades than students who deployed trivial hardware bypasses.

Turning Insider Understanding into Stronger Tools

We realized that legacy proctoring companies were failing because they were built by enterprise software committees who hadn't sat in an undergraduate exam in 20 years. They were designing for yesterday's cheating methods while students were already living in the generative AI era.
