Designed for Real Bypass Vectors. Not Just Theory.
Most proctoring software only detects when a browser window loses focus. Proctify defends at the operating system, hardware display, and network layers against the tools modern students actually use.
“Built by students. Because we know how students cheat — and how to prevent it.”
We built Proctify not because we wanted to create intrusive spyware, but because we saw firsthand how unfair online exams had become. Honest students who spent weeks studying were being outperformed by peers using $15 HDMI splitters and background AI bots that legacy browser extensions completely ignored.
Our engineering philosophy is simple: tackle the actual hardware and OS loopholes, eliminate false positives that stress students out, and provide teachers with indisputable video evidence.
OS-Level Hooking & Keyboard Interception
Proctify uses low-level native hooks (`SetWindowsHookEx` on Windows, `CGEventTap` on macOS, and display grabs on Linux) to intercept and disable system shortcuts before the OS processes them.
Continuous Display & HDMI Hotplug Detection
Cheaters frequently connect HDMI splitters or secondary screens to mirror questions to an accomplice. Proctify monitors physical display enumerations continuously throughout the exam.
Virtual Camera & Video Loopback Spoofing Defenses
Students often attempt to feed pre-recorded MP4 video loops using OBS Virtual Camera or ManyCam. Proctify interrogates hardware driver descriptors to ensure only genuine physical camera sensors are streamed.
One-Time Tokenized Session Architecture
No shared links, static passwords, or re-usable exam codes. Every exam attempt is signed with a one-time cryptographic token generated on-demand by Moodle.
Multi-Tenant Isolation & Zero Data Selling
Every university instance operates inside isolated tenant schemas. Proctify adheres strictly to FERPA and GDPR standards—we never monetize student data or train external AI models on student faces.
Exportable Evidence Chain for Misconduct Hearings
When an academic integrity violation is flagged, professors can download a full evidentiary package containing synchronized dual-stream MP4 video, incident timestamps, and telemetry logs.
Ethical Proctoring with FERPA & GDPR Guarantees
We believe online proctoring should protect academic integrity without violating student privacy rights or selling personal telemetry.
Student exam recordings and names are never sold, monetized, or shared with third-party advertisers.
Institutions can configure automated video purging policies to delete footage immediately after grading deadlines.
All video streams and session telemetry are encrypted using AES-256 and TLS 1.3 standards.
